Using the new IntraLase-FS laser to create the corneal flap, we are now performing LASIK surgery without a blade. Traditionally, the LASIK flap was created using a microkeratome with a blade. Although complications during LASIK are relatively rare, when they do occur the microkeratome portion of the procedure is often the source of the problem.
